The details:
At most grocery stores in Delaware right now, ground beef runs about $6–$8 per pound, and anything with a steak label on it (sirloin, ribeye, strip) usually floats in the $14–$20 per pound range.
That’s for mass-produced meat that was shipped, stored, treated for color, and priced by a chain that changes the sticker whenever it wants.
You stand in the store under bright fluorescent lights that are designed to make the meat look better than it actually is, trying to guess what’s fresh, what’s been repackaged, and whether you can trust what the label promises.
Buying a half cow directly from Heslep’s Coastal Cattle is different in every way that matters.
You reserve one of six half shares (only 1 share left as of Dec 8th!), we finish your animal locally, and your beef is processed at Sudlersville Meat Locker (USDA approved) in Sudlersville, Maryland.
You’ll fill out a cut sheet (we send it to you after your deposit) so your meat is packaged exactly the way you want it, how thick your steaks should be, how big your roasts should be, how you like your ground beef, whether you want brisket or ribs or both, whatever you want!
Then, when it’s ready, you pick up roughly 210–250 pounds (delivery optional) of frozen, labeled, vacuum-sealed beef that is yours for months, and you don’t have to stand under fluorescent lights ever again wondering about the dinner plan (or what's in it).
Step 1 - Reserve your half with a $500 deposit (view refund & cancellation policy) — this holds your place; there are only six (6) in this round and it’s first come, first served (only 1 share left as of Dec 8th!).
Step 2 - We finish and process your beef through Sudlersville Meat Locker (USDA approved) in Sudlersville, Maryland.; you complete a cut sheet so every package actually fits your kitchen and your habits.
Step 3 - Pay your final invoice (at $5.25/lb), and pick up your beef on the scheduled date (target: early April), load your coolers, and fill your freezer with clean, local beef that didn’t travel the country to reach your family (delivery optional).

About 210–250 lbs of take-home beef for a half share (steaks, roasts, brisket or ribs, and plenty of ground).
No preservatives or color additives, period.
Custom cuts (you choose thickness, roast sizes, grind ratio, and more).
Processed at Sudlersville Meat Locker (USDA approved) in Sudlersville, Maryland.
Local cattle from Heslep’s Coastal Cattle, raised with care.
Freezer-ready, frozen, labeled, vacuum sealed.
Breed: Angus, and Charlois x Jersey
Deposit: $500 (view refund & cancellation policy).
Final balance paid (at $5.25/lb) prior to pickup: based on hanging weight plus butcher processing, settled when your beef is ready.
Most families land around $1,500-$2100 total for a half share, with ~210–260 lbs take-home. When you do the math, you’ll see why people stop buying steaks at $18 a pound and start buying from a farm.

Plan on 7–9 cubic feet of freezer space for a half cow, which is one standard chest freezer. Bring coolers or freezer bags for pickup day.
